- 5 / 5By Dan RehbeinAnother must stop detour off of HWY 29. I always make it a point to drop in when coming up for hunting in the north woods to stock up. Marieke's Cheese and Holland Family Farm is an awesome place to visit. The largest selection of carefully crafted Gouda cheeses you will find anywhere, and all very delicious. I haven't eaten in the store, but it looks amazingly delicious. The whole facility is very modern, clean and a fun family stop.
A nice surprise is their decent selection of Wisconsin and other midwest produced wines. I know, you are probably thinking good wine only comes from the west coast. Well there are some excellent vineyards and wineries in Wisconsin, and not just that weak cranberry based stuff. I'm talking real wines with deep flavor, and Marieke's has them here.
